A new species of cockroach discovered in December in Mexico was officially named after President Donald Trump, due to its strength and the quantum of feces it produces every day.

The Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM) Biology Professor, Jorgina Franco Jimenez, officially registered the species on Tuesday, naming her “Trump cockroach”.

The renowned Biologist says the name presented itself naturally while observing the insect since it was discovered in December 2020, in the north of the state of Chihuahua.

“When we observed that it was almost unkillable and that it produced feces that is more than five times its weight on daily basis, the first name that came to our mind was Trump

Professor Jimenez described the new species as the most voracious and pathogen-ridden of over 4,600 known species of cockroaches.

“It spends its time devouring everything in sight including toxic waste and others. This makes them toxic. We found up to 44 different pathogens in a single individual.”

It is estimated that 15 million different species live on our planet, but only 2 million of them are currently known to science and several new species are discovered every year.

The “Trump Cockroach” was the only species registered in North America in December, with most findings coming from the Amazon, Africa, and India.
