Upper Easterners fume over Akufo-Addo’s exclusion of the region in his ministerial nominations

The nominations of ministers and regional ministers submitted to parliament by President Akufo-Addo for approval have been met with some shocking remarks from some residents of the Upper East region who described the nominations as unbalanced regional allocations of appointments.

Conspicuously missing from the 30 list of ministers nominated by the president is a native of the Upper East region.

Aside the regional minister’s portfolio which requires a regional representation, the Upper East region has no representation for consideration for a minister.

Shockingly, some residents of the region think the Akufo-Addo led government has not fairly treated the people of the region.

Others on the other hand, believe the non-representation of the Upper East region in the president’s choice could be attributed to the appalling performance of the New Patriotic Party in the 2020 general which saw the NPP winning just a single seat out of the 15 constituencies in the region.

These are some of the posts as expressed by residents of the Upper East region on Facebook.
