Minister-designate for the Upper East Region, Steven Yakubu has urged that the only way the region can achieve total development would be through collective efforts by all and sundry.

“Development does not come on silver platter hence the need for collective efforts by all and sundry both at the diaspora level as well as the local level.” He added.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with A1 Radio, Ambassador Yakubu noted that the region needs a lot of developmental projects and that can be achieved if only there would be collective understanding and unity amongst the different cultures.

“There is no region in Ghana that will say it does not need one or two projects for growth. And there is no magic way of bringing development hence I will call for collective efforts by all and sundry. We need to come together and redefined our purpose and what we want to achieve as a region.”

Appreciating past and present ministers’ contributions to the growth of the region, Ambassador Yakubu noted that his coming would be to add to what his predecessors have done, but cannot do it alone without the support of the indigenous people.

Before his nomination, Ambassador Yakubu was Ghana’s ambassador to Morocco during Akufo Addo’s first term as President.

If he goes through vetting successfully, he will be the first Regional Minister from the Binduri District since 1992.
