The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Upper East Regional branch has hinted that there is a likelihood that the Electoral Commission will organize another election due to the hard evidence available to them.

Upper East Regional Secretary of the NDC, Donatus Akamugri assured the party’s supporters on Monday, January 25, 2021, on A1 Radio in Bolgatanga.

Mr. Akamugri noted that the party has a strong conviction that after the court hearing the NDC will come out victorious.

“My message to party supporters is that they should have hope and start doing background campaigns because victory is ours. … Yes, we will go for re-election.”

Reacting to these comments, the Upper East Regional Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party, Sanusi Issah said his opponent from day one has been incompetent in its dealings, saying, “… common filing of a petition paper they failed and were asking for permission from the Supreme Court to correct such errors”.

Mr. Issah, therefore, asked the public to disregard such comments from the NDC’s Regional Secretary, as the NDC has no facts to back its claims at the Supreme Court and relying on delay tactics.

Meanwhile, Mr. Akamugri insists that the party members and supporters should be hopeful and begin doing background campaigns because the party is on solid ground and will be victorious after the court hearing of the John Mahama petition.

The NDC is currently challenging the outcome of the 2020 Presidential Election, in which the Electoral Commission declared the New Patriotic Party Presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo winner.
