The Ghana Medical Association has suggested to the government to as a matter of urgency, place a restriction on all social activities to reduce the alarming rate at which Covid-19 is spreading across Ghana.

A statement issued by the association on January 25, 2021, mentioned funerals, church programmes, parties, clubs, and other social gatherings as activities that require immediate restriction by the government, considering how people are ignoring the Covid-19 safety protocols during these gathering.

The association also called on the government to restrict the number of mourners that will be participating in all other activities towards the state funeral of the late former President of Ghana, Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings.

The leadership of the Ghana Medical Association suggested to the government through the Ministry of Information to sensitize Ghanaians on the need to avoid crowded areas and rather watch funeral activities on television to avoid being infected with Covid-19.

According to the GMA, Ghana is recording an average of 600 Covid-19 cases on daily basis and this should be a worry to everyone living in Ghana.
