For many professional drivers in Ghana and around the world, the guiding principle is that “see yourself as the only wise driver on the road, so as to bring sanity on the road.” This is just advice to drivers to be very careful on the road so as to avoid incidents that could lead to accidents.

In a similar manner, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Health Insurance Scheme, Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby has advised Ghanaians to be very careful in their dealings in public places and homes, in the wake of rising numbers of Covid-19 cases in the country.

She wants every Ghanaian to assume that everyone around them has Covid and maintain this mentality about Covid-19 for as long as the country keeps recording new cases.

An e-banner with this message and the picture of Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby has been flying in the social media space.

The banner reads: “ ‘You must just assume that everyone around you has Covid. For the next couple of weeks let’s just act as if that is the situation. You must treat everyone you meet as a potential Covid carrier. Don’t put yourself at risk.’ Dr. Lydia Dsane-Selby – NHIS CEO”.

She is not the only one calling for Ghanaians to be very careful about Covid-19, the leadership of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has also called on Ghanaians to reduce their movement into crowded areas.

The GMA, like some equally concerned Ghanaians and organizations, has called on the government to tighten the restriction and bring back the orders that limited the number of people attending funerals and other public events, as a way of limiting movement of persons and also preventing large groupings which could affect the agreed social distancing and also be a fertile ground for spreading Covid-19.
