Covid-19: Prez. Akufo-Addo again bans funerals, weddings and other social gatherings

President Akufo-Addo has once again placed a ban on funerals, weddings, and other social gatherings in the country.

Delivering his 23rd update to the nation on measures taken to fight the Covid-19 pandemic in the country, the president said the average positive cases of Covid-19 per day has increased in a matter of 2 weeks from 200 to 700; hence the reintroduction of restrictions in the country.

“Until further notice, fuenerals, weddings, concerts, theatrical performances and parties are banned.

He continued that beaches, night clubs, cinemas and pubs are to remain shut while asking all workplaces to employ a shift-system for workers, in addition to the use of virtual platforms for businesses and work.

According to him, meetings and conferences could be held but asked for them to be done via virtual platforms if not necessary for a face to face encounter.

He also said “Restaurant should provide take-away services, and should as much as possible avoid seated services.”

On religious gatherings, President Akufo-Addo advised that “Churches and mosques must enforce to the later the 2-hour duration and 1 metre social distancing, as well as the use of sanitizers and liquid soap.”
