The team manager of Paga Crocodile Stars, Jamal Atipaga is hopeful that the club will not go on relegation despite the challenges the club is faced with, this season.

According to him, the club’s Division-One campaign has not been easy at all, considering the fact that many factors are going against the club both home and away.

Paga Crocodile Stars is the only club representing the Upper East Region in the on-going National Division-One League this season. The club is currently lying at the 12th position on the league table.

In an interview with Humul Kursum Tahiru on the ‘What’s the score’ Sports Show on A1 Radio in Bolgatanga, Jamal Atipaga said the club has what it takes to remain in the Division-One League by the end of the season.

He said: “…first and foremost, our performance in the campaign is quite good though there are some small challenges we have to solve. So far, in the league, we are currently sitting 12th on the table, with 6 points although we could’ve done better in some games that we dropped points.

We are facing some challenges, both on and off the field that we need to address before the subsequent matches. Some of our players are Nurses and others are Policemen, they are far from here (Paga), so coming for training on daily basis is difficult for them.

Another challenge our squad is facing is motivation, the players as you can see in our previous match were less motivated. But we are working on that and we’ll try by hook or crook to get them highly motivated and get them right on track before the upcoming fixtures.”

Mr. Atipaga like many club managers called for support from the public and corporate bodies in the region and the Paga area to motivate the players and also run the club as expected.

“We need public support, both morally and physically. We need them to come out and cheer the players both in training and matches. You know we are trying our best but we cannot do it alone because football is a collective sport.

Our aim apparently is to win our upcoming games so we can stay and continue in the division next year. And you know with the public support, financially, orally, and verbally, we can hit that goal.”
