U/E police retrieve exhibits in connection with robbery attack on church in Bolgatanga

The Upper East Regional police command says it has commenced investigations into last week’s robbery attack on a church at Soe-Akupeliga, a suburb of Bolgatanga Municipality.

Congregants of The River of Life International Global Prayer Centre were on Thursday February 4, 2021 attacked by 6 armed men suspected to be robbers on day 3 of a 4-days church program.

The armed men made away with an undisclosed amount of money, motor bikes and mobile phones after they had physically assaulted the Head Pastor leaving him with severe injuries.

According to a GhanaWeb report monitored by A1Radioonline.com, Public Relations Officer of the Upper East Regional police command, ASP David Fianko-Okyere, in a statement said they have begun investigations into the matter; leading to the retrieval of exhibits believed to have been used by the suspected robbers.

“Yes, police went to the premises of Global Centre River of Life International Church at Akupeliga near Soe in Bolgatanga. Exhibit to wit machete and empty shell believed to have been fired from a locally manufactured pistol retrieved. Victims were interviewed. They claimed their mobile phones and monies were taken. We have reconstructed the scene and some intelligence gathered. We are flowing up on the matter to ensure we arrest perpetrators.”

He assured that the command was working around the clock to apprehend the suspects.

ASP Fianko-Okyere also appealed to the public to assist with information that can lead to the arrest of the armed men, adding that anybody who has information that could lead to the identification or arrest of the suspects should contact the police for necessary action.

“Meanwhile, anyone who is offered a motorbike for sale should be interviewed thoroughly and if possible, inform police for further action”. ASP Fianko-Okyere added.
