Sumburungu Ladies from Sumburungu a suburb of Bolgatanga Municipality, were on Sunday, February 14, 2021, adjudged the champions of a two-day tournament organized by the Women’s League Board of the Upper East Regional Football Association (RFA).
The ladies from Sumburungu won all their matches to emerge champions in a tournament that was meant to give the clubs more playing time and also help them improve on their performance in the ongoing divisional leagues. All matches were held at the Bolgatanga Sports Stadium.
Day one results: Sumburungu Ladies F.C 2-0 Zorkor United Ladies, All Stars Ladies 0-0 Sharp Arrows, Zuarungu Terror Ladies 0-2 Sumburungu Ladies F.C.
Day two results: Zorkor United Ladies 1-1 Zuarungu Terror Ladies, Sumburungu Ladies F.C 1-0 All-Stars Ladies, Sharp Arrows Ladies 1-1 Zuarungu Terror Ladies, All-Stars Ladies 2-0 Zorkor United Ladies and Sharp Arrows Ladies 0-2 Sumburungu Ladies F.C.
The founder and coach of Sumburungu Ladies F.C, who serves as the chairman of the Women League Board at the RFA, Iddrisu Danaa Mubarik was impressed with the performance of his club and all other clubs that participated in the two-day tournament.
According to him, the clubs played well and urged the coaches to continue guiding their girls through their training.
Mr. Danaa called on the business community to sponsor tournaments of this nature so as to give the players more competitive opportunities to develop their skills and eventually become national assets in the near future.
