The Rent Control Department in the Bolgatanga Municipality has said that it is illegal for landlords and landladies to evict their tenants without the knowledge of the department, or done in line with laid down procedure.
According to the Rent Control Department, it is still an act of illegality for a landlord or landlady to evict a tenant without prior notice is given to the tenant to look for another place.
The Upper East Regional Rent Control Manager, Adams Yaminu who sounded the word of caution also admonished tenants to report landlords and landladies who unlawfully evict them.
He also advised tenants to live in peace with their landlords and other tenants to prevent chaos in their homes.
There are many unresolved cases at the Rent Control where tenants and landlords have reported cases over misconduct.
