Walewale was thrown in a state of shock on Friday, February 19, 2021 as news of the death of Linus Issahaku, a player of Division Two side Catholic Stars FC, trickled in. The sad event took place at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, few days after the player had been admitted.

On Saturday, February 13, his club engaged Buguya Paala FC, a team from Fumbisi in the Upper East Region, in a friendly match at the plush Astro Turf Stadium in Walewale. In the said match, Issahaku sustained a head injury that saw him foam in the mouth and then went into coma.

He was rushed to the Walewale Municipal Hospital, where test results necessitated a referral to the Tamale Teaching Hospital. In Tamale, a C T Scan revealed cerebral haemorrhage, that would claim his life before any surgical intervention could commence.

Issahaku was a young, talented footballer who had strength and pace. He was a soft-spoken, shy person who endeared himself to many because of his work ethic and respect for all. May God forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.
