President Akufo-Addo urges MPs to help educate the public about COVID-19 vaccination

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on all 275 Members of Parliament to help in sensitizing the general public about the coronavirus vaccination in the country.

Delivering his first State of the Nation address of his second term in Parliament on Tuesday, 9 March 2021, President Nana Akufo-Addo noted that, the coronavirus vaccination programmed which is ongoing in some regions of the country is to help in the fight against the virus with strict compliance with the safety protocols, and Members of Parliament have role to play to that effect, if we all desire to bring the country back to normal life.

“I want to urge Members of the House to lend their voices to the public education campaign currently ongoing with regards to the vaccination programmed. The vaccine, together with strict compliance with the safety protocols, is what will allow us to open up our country again, and embark on the quest to restore normalcy to our lives and livelihoods.”

He further stated that government’s target is to vaccinate twenty million Ghanaians and the government is working hard towards realizing this goal, he also said they will be delivery of seventeen million, six hundred thousand vaccines by June, and they will be more to come in the course of the year.
