The Former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central in the Northern Region,  Inusah Fuseini has said that the current total debt stock of Ghana is ¢286.8billion, with ¢160 billion borrowed under President Akufo Addo’s government in the last four years.

According to the former lawmaker, Ghana’s total debt stood at ¢122 billion as at the time the last National Democratic Congress (NDC) government exited office on 7th January 2017.

Speaking on Day Break Upper East on A1radio ahead of the 2021 budget reading, he said: “…they [NPP government] have eaten the meat to the bone, there is no meat left and the indication of that is what happened in 2020 and today, when they are presenting the budget, you would see that they would repeat what the president said in his State of the Nation Address, that the government would borrow 5 billion Dollars through the issuance of Euro Bonds.”

He said, the government has borrowed more than any other past government but has nothing significant to show for such a huge debt in the last four years.
