A former Principal of St John Boscos College of Education, Alfred Ndago has called on teachers to pursue higher knowledge in academia to be able to impact the lives of the children they teach; this will ensure a stronger foundation for the children.

Speaking to A1news shortly after the Bolgatanga South Local GNAT biennial delegates conference held at the GNAT Hall in Bolgatanga on Tuesday, 16th March 2021, Mr. Ndago said Ghana needs human capital to develop and it is the teacher that develops the human capital in their pupils.

“So what I advise all teachers today is that they should aspire to the higher heights in knowledge and professional development so that they can impact on the lives of children and society generally, so that we can build our society into a very strong state.

Many of the developed countries have developed or gone up to a certain level because of the fact that they have built human capital and human capital is built by the teacher. The foundation is laid by the teacher and so teachers have the onerous task and so they should be committed to their work.”

Mr. Ndago admonished young men and women who have the interest to enter the teaching profession to be motivated by the passion to be a narrative changer in society, but not the monetary benefits since the salary of teachers is not as attractive as other professionals.

The Bolgatanga South GNAT held its 2021 biennial delegates conference to deliberate on the betterment of the Association and elect leaders to steer the affairs of GNAT in the Bolga South. Mrs. Mercy Yam-Tot Adongo was retained as the Chairperson for GNAT in the Bolga South Local.

The Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) is holding local delegates conferences across the country in the Months of February to March 2021, to elect its local leaders that will take responsibilities for running the affairs of the Association at the local levels.
