The Northern Regional Directorate of the National Youth Authority (NYA) has donated packs of roofing sheets to the Tamale Cultural Group to cover its structure for a conducive environment for the training of members.
Mr Mumuni Sulemana, Northern Regional Director of NYA, who handed over the packs of roofing sheets to the representatives of Tamale Cultural Group, said the gesture was in response to a request made by the Management of the Group to the NYA.
Mr Sulemana said, “In line with our vision of empowering the youth in the country, we responded to their call by donating these roofing sheets to enable them to have a conducive environment for grooming our youth.”
The roofing sheets, valued at GHc2,000.00, will be used in roofing some uncompleted building projects at the Youth Home in Tamale.
The Youth Home, which has a handicraft shop, offers training to the youth in the Northern Region in the areas of smock weaving, dressmaking, tie and dye making to equip them for emerging opportunities.
Mr Abdul-Rahaman Mohammed, Director of Tamale Cultural Group, said the donation would afford the Group the opportunity of securing a more conducive place for the youth to acquire skills.
“By this donation, we will not have to suspend our training whenever it is about to rain.”
Master Alhassan Hudu, an apprentice at the Youth Home, said the gesture by the NYA will keep them motivated to learn their trade.
“This gesture tells us that our leaders think about our welfare and future and we will do our best to learn to contribute towards the development of the country.”
