The Ghana Ambassador to Burkina Faso and a former Member of Parliament for Nabdam Constituency, Boniface Gambilla has deflated claims that he was unserious and always chewing groundnuts with the market women instead of addressing serious party [New Patriotic Party] issues in the run up to the 2020 general elections.

He said, he could not have been everywhere in the Constituency to address all problems of his constituents, and that his engagements with the market women was part of a strategy he deployed to mobilize votes for the party.

Speaking on ‘DayBreak Upper East’ program on A1 Radio, the Ghana Ambassador to Burkina Faso said, “You can’t be everywhere talking to everyone at a particular moment. When they say I was chewing groundnuts with market women, of course they [Market women] too need my time and attention and that’s wasn’t bad. Who doesn’t like groundnuts?”.

He said, “Even the president [Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo] likes groundnuts. I remember sometime ago when I was with him on a trip, we got to a place where he had to stop just to buy groundnuts along the road”.

Gambilla was once a Member of Parliament for the Nabdam Constituency on the ticket of New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a Regional Minister for the Upper East Region.

Boniface Gambila has been appointed by President Akufo-Addo as Ghana’s Ambassador to Burkina-Faso.
