Upper East Regional Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Okyere-Fianko has disclosed that investigations have started, to get the perpetrators of the broad daylight robbery at Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region on Monday afternoon.

The robbery is reported to have happened a few meters away from the Zebilla Central Mosque and resulted in the killing of a form two Junior High student and injuries of two other persons who have been treated and discharged at the Zebilla District Hospital.

Speaking on ‘Daybreak Upper East’ programme on A1 Radio on Tuesday, March 23, ASP Okyere-Fianko said, at the time the police got to the scene on Monday, the armed robbers had left, and shops around the place had been closed and people have fled from the area.

He called on residents of the region to make good use of the various police emergency numbers that have been given to the public.

He believes that the criminals have started feeling the heat in the regional capital, Bolgatanga due to the intensified police patrols and so have taken their operations to the districts.

According to him, though the police have recently arrested some two persons suspected to be linked to an earlier robbery incident that occurred in the same area and are assisting with investigation.

He assured that similar exercises will be done in all districts to flush out the criminals and wants community members to expose any stranger they doubt or suspect to be a criminal and hiding within them.
