The Principal of the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College in the Upper East Region, Williams Sebil has denied claims that the management has sacked 16 students from the college, saying the reports are lies and should be disregarded.

He spoke on the Daybreak Upper East programme on A1 Radio in Bolgatanga in the Upper East Region.

There have been some reports in social media claiming that the college has sacked some 16 students who managed to gain admission into the Nursing Training College with fake WASSCE results.

According to the principal, there has not been the need to sack any student of the college on grounds of presenting fake certificates and results for admission, hence the need for people to end the circulation of that false information.

“Normally when they buy the forms through the Ministry of Health, the WAEC links up with the Ministry of Health to be able to validate to know the true results, so we don’t have any problem. So, no student has been sacked in any way.”

Asked if all first-years have reported to school, the principal said all students of the college that need to be in school are in school and receiving tuition.

“The first years are in the class, currently writing mid-semester exams. The second years are in class; A and B, all having lectures. The third years, it is time for them to go to the wards and pick case studies, in other words, they will pick a patient and write on that patient for teachers to monitor.”

Asked if the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College had any challenges with the number of students in the face of COVID-19, Mr. Sebil said: “…for now no any major challenges, we are all aware of the protocols, the government supported us with enough tissues and sanitizers, the students we gave to them and at vantage points we have water we wash our hands, so we don’t have any problem.”
