Ghanaian hiplife artiste and entrepreneur, Reginald Yaw Asante Ossei, popularly known as Reggie Rockstone has taken a stand against the decision of the management and Old Students Association of the Achimota School over the enrolment of two Rastafarian students into the school.

Reggie Rockstone was speaking in an interview on Joy Fm which was monitored by A1 Radio.

The two students were both placed at the Achimota School by the Computerized School Placement System, but have been denied the opportunity to get enrolled into the school due to their dreadlocked hair.

According to Reggie Rockstone, who is an old student of the Achimota School and also wears locked hair, the decision by the school not to allow the two students into the school until they cut their locked hair, is offensive and he is not happy with that.

“The decision is so offensive, but am glad the argument came up, am glad the conversation came up, because you gonna learn, there is so much to learn. Anyway, for now, I am putting an embargo on Motown even though I went to the school. Am not down with Motown right now, until we get some stuff right. Am Pan-African; it’s just not flying with me. You know, I’ve been supportive of my school, am an ‘Akura’ we throw parties at my place everything, am a proud one, but right now, nah. But there is one article today I read that really really offended me, I wouldn’t repeat it but, aaam yes, it has to do with, they allowed the Caucasians to keep their hair long because when they keep their hair short, they look ugly and we are negros, and something like that; listen I’ve got to go before I say something.”

Meanwhile, there are some offers to get these Rastafarian students to be admitted into some Senior High Schools and if they accept any of these offers, it is expected that this issue would be laid to rest.
