The Suspended Outspoken Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Atubiga has said that, his level of politics is not just been a follower and a bootlicker but one that has an integrity to protect in the interest of the party.
He said, constructive criticism against factors that led to the loss of the NDC in the 2020 general elections is what is important to him, and that’s exactly what his doing.
Mr. Atubiga has persistently been criticizing and questioning the competency of the NDC’s 2020 Campaign Team Manager, Joshua Alabi and the IT system that were put in place to collate the election results at the party’s headquarters.
He has therefore been suspended following his ‘disparaging and unfounded’ comments made against some key senior party members, according to a letter addressed to him and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.
However, reacting to why he is been vocal in his criticism particularly about Mr. Alabi and some leadership of the party on ‘DayBreak Upper East’ programme on A1 Radio, Mr. Atubiga said, “The level some of us have reached in politics is beyond been bootlicking or just following. You have to leave a legacy for those behind you. You have an integrity for others to follow. You have to take a stand in the interest of the party for the party’s future and somebody must always take that stand.”
He further said, “If you love your party, it’s not about always clapping. If you go for war which is politics and you lose and come back, a good postmortem has to be done. And the postmortem needs to be triggered by somebody who really loves the party and has the believe that, somebody’s actions and inactions caused that loss.”
He therefore said, he stands with the truth and his truthfulness will manifest itself for the party in the future if not now.
