Sandema: 6 suspects escape from police cell

Six suspects facing various charges have broken out of the Sandema police cell in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region. The incident occurred on April 10, 2021 at about 12:35am.

Upper East Regional Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Police Service, ASP David Fianko-Okyere, who confirmed this to A1Radioonline.com said at about 12:35am on Saturday, officers on duty heard a heavy bang and when they rushed to the cell, they noticed the suspects had created a hole around one of the doors through which they escaped.

Meanwhile, the PRO has said one of the suspects has been recaptured and officers in plainclothes as well as uniformed officers have been deployed in the area to recapture the remaining escapees.

While appealing to the public to volunteer information they may have on the escapees for their recapture, ASP Fianko-Okyerehas has also assured that the police administration in the region has ensured all the cells are secured to avert a similar situation.
