I support Akufo-Addo to end illegal mining- Inusah Fuseini

Former Land Minister on the erstwhile National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, Inusah Fuseini has pledged his unfeigning support for the Akufo-Addo government to fight illegal mining in the country.

The activities of illegal mining according to the former minister if not tackled, will have a negative toll on the future progress of the country.

He said, the fight against ‘galamsey’ should be seen as a collective action by all and sundry to help the government to deal with the activities of illegal miners.

Mr Fusieni said, “We should all rest our shoulders and minds into how we can end this canker, yes! let us as political actors put aside our party lines and reason together how we can achieve the end to illegal mining in our various communities and districts. I will support the government in this course.”

The former legislator for Tamale Central who spoke on Daybreak Upper East show on A1 Radio regarding the calls made by President Akufo-Addo in the fight against ‘galamsey’ noted that Ghanaians should champion the President’s quest.

The legislator stressed that being permissive in the fight against ‘galamsey’ should be a core mandate for political actors as the chemicals using in the activities have long time effects on human lives.

He said, “If we do not make sure we win this fight as citizens, political actors and lawmakers a time will come that the food we plant and consume will be full of poisonous chemicals because those chemicals use in attracting the gold are dangerous to humans.”

President Akufo-Addo on Wednesday 14 April 2021 at a National Dialogue on Small Scale Mining called on political actors to assist him stamped out the menace of illegal mining and support to grow responsible small-scale mining.
