Some Residents of Wa in the Upper West Region have expressed worry about the intermittent power outage in the region as they say the power outage is now an issue of concern.

According to the residents, the interruption has caused serious destructions to their gadgets and some planned activities.

The Residents are unhappy about the situation, more so VRA/NEDCO and the Electricity Company of Ghana do not give them any information with regards to the power interruption.

A1 Radio’s Upper West Regional Correspondent Dennis Bebane visited some health facilities in the Wa Municipality to ascertain the situation and how it is affecting their operations.

The Head of Administration Wa Municipal Hospital Samson Abu, said the situation is so worrying because of late they have been experiencing an intermittent power outage and that is affecting the provision of quality health care to our patients.

According to the administrator, “You can imagine if we have a patient on the operation table and the lights goes off it means the patient is between life and death.”

Mr Abu explained that the hospital has its own intervention such as the use of a generator and other gadgets to enable them to perform surgery amidst the intermittent power outage.

He however stated that the use of a generator means they have to spend extra money to buy fuel because in the long ran it means “we are going an extra mile to ensure that we still provide quality health care for the people by spending extra.”

The Hospital Administrator, also noted that it is not affecting only the hospital but the general populace especially those who have shops that are stocked with perishable goods.

He there called on authorities to find a lasting solution to the problem.
