Upper East Regional Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Donatus Akamugre has said that if by surprise the New Patriotic Party (NPP) allows Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to stand as its Presidential candidate come 2024 elections a “Village Borga” under the NDC will win the election without campaign.
Mr. Akamugre who was speaking in an interview on DayBreak Upper East Show on A1 Radio said, the Vice President has lost his political fame and will be the worse candidate to stand as the Presidential flagbearer for the NPP.
He noted that, one of the reasons he believes the Vice President would not be allowed to lead the NPP in 2024 elections was his continuous “lies” about the foreign exchange rate of the Ghana Cedi to the United States Dollar.
Mr. Akamugri stressed that, Dr Bawumia has already dealt with himself “…by allowing them (NPP gurus) to make him go around telling the impossible things to be possible, lying to innocent Ghanaians of things that cannot be achieved.”
He said, “Also let us not forget that the political philosophy of NPP is that anyone that does not contribute will not be allowed to chop. Just like what happened in the just-ended 2020 elections. Those MPs who did not win their seats, you would realize that it is difficult for them to be appointed – they have not been appointed. So if you look at the Northern sector, based on the number of votes; tell us what contribution has the Vice President contributed to the winning of the NPP?”
