Lawyer Gary Nimako Marfo a private legal practitioner has asked Ghanaians to look beyond the age and personality of the newly appointed Special Prosecutor, Lawyer Kissi Adjebeng, and focus on his competence for a collective fight against corruption.

According to lawyer Nimako, the youth of the country need to be given the chance to contribute their quota towards national development and bring new perspectives to the future growth of the country for which reason he sees the newly appointed Special Prosecutor fit for the job.

Lawyer Adjebeng who has been appointed by the Attorney General to occupy the Office of the Special Prosecutor, following the resignation of the former Special Prosecutor Martin Amidu which came with serious criticism from the public.

But speaking on Daybreak Upper East show on A1 Radio, lawyer Nimako asked the public to rather look beyond age and personality and focus on competence.

He said he does not think age is synonymous with competence because you cannot say that a 43 years old person cannot perform but rather a 60-year-old person can perform because such an argument cannot stand the test of time.

Lawyer Nimako stressed that “The law that gives room for the appointment of Lawyer Kissi does not spell out that people below the ages of 60 should not be appointed to head the Office of the Special Prosecutor. So I will entreat that we should give him the chance and support to work.”

He however advised that institutions should not only be built based on the persona of the people but rather the commitment of the individuals.
