Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation calls on government to consider increasing the number of women in leadership

The Founder of the Henry Djaba Memorial Foundation, a non-governmental organization that focuses on empowering the vulnerable in society, Otiko Afisah Djaba has called on the government to consider increasing the number of women in leadership positions.

According to her despite the success chalked by past and present governments in realizing the important roles women played, there is the need for more improvement.

She noted that in present-day Ghana, women constitute over 51% of the Ghanaian population but only a few are found in leadership positions.

Mrs. Djaba said various governments have contributed to significantly help place women in leadership positions though there is still more to be done to help improve and encourage more women participation in leadership roles. 

Mrs. Djaba who was speaking in an exclusive interview on Day Break Upper East show on A1radio said in commemorating Mother’s day it is worth mentioning that some women are not responsible and admonished ladies to be responsible mothers. 

She revealed that they had launched the 16,000 wheelchair project which aims at providing each of the 16 regions of the country with 1000 wheelchairs but it has always has been difficult raising funds for such project because peopling are not donating towards.

Mrs Djaba use the opportunity to appeal to the general public to donate wheelchairs which will go a long away to help those who with disability in moving realize the dignity of life.
