Member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) communication team in the Upper East Region Isaac Ayemvoa says he doubts if Stephen Yakubu will stay in office as Upper East Regional minister for more than a year.

Mr. Ayemvoa who was speaking on Critical Issues program on A1 Radio about the Upper East Regional minister’s statement about the lack of funds to effectively run the activities of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), said the New Patriotic Party is not the party that respects contrary views or truth-telling.

He wondered what came over the regional minister to make such statements in the open about the challenges that they face at the RCC because in his view the minister ought to know the kind of government that he is part of, hence his doubt about his future stay in the position as regional minister.

Mr. Ayemvoa said unless you are bold you cannot come out to speak about some of these things citing an example that most Senior High School’s headmasters are quiet about government subventions that have not been coming for some time now which is making it difficult for them to run their offices but they are afraid to say it.

He commended the courage of the Upper East Regional Minister and urge people who occupy critical positions in government to speak about delays in government release of funds to facilitate their work which he says affect the larger population.

It would be recalled that when the parliamentary select committee on local government paid a working visit to the region, the Upper Regional Minister made a statement about the lack of funds for the RCC to effectively monitor and supervise the assemblies which even compel him to off his air condition to save cost.
