Former member of Parliament for Tamale Central Constituency of the Northern Region, Inusah Fuseini has started that the allegation of receiving double salary is false and that what Martin Amidu wrote, is his opinion, except that some of the things he stated are far fetched.
Mr. Fusieni, who was speaking on Day Break Upper East show on A1 Radio about the recent former Special Prosecutor epistle alleging that the government relented in fighting corruption relating to MPs taking double salary to have them approve ministerial nominees of the government.
The former law-maker said, the allegations by Martin Amidu are merely his opinions because he (Martin Amidu) as a seasoned lawyer knows the rules on hearsay evidence and so those things he is saying can only be matters that he can talk about but not conclusive truth since he claims he got the information from his sources in parliament.
Mr. Fusieni said, there was no criminal intent on his part to receive double salary and he did not receive double salary, even if he was overpaid what is governing administrative procedure is for his employer to draw his attention to payments that were made and request a refund.
Mr. Fuseini said, he did not see how an incident which occurred in 2017 and died, resurrected in 2021 for the purposes of approving government ministerial appointments.
He added that, everyone is responsible for what he does so while in office if a person misconduct himself, time does not run against the commission of crime so the matter is still with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and can be revisited.
