Ahead of the appointment of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives across the country, Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party for the Upper East region, Sanusi Issah has shown some level of discontent over the performance of Joseph Amiyuure Atuura, Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive.
Mr. Amiyuure who has been an MCE for the municipality for the past 4 years was among the top 4 aspirants who were selected out of an over 10 aspirants who filled, to attend an interview at the Jubilee House in Accra for the position of Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive.
Among the top 4 for the Bolgatanga MCE job include the 2020 Parliamentary Candidate of the NPP for Bolgatanga, Rex Asanga, Deputy Upper East Regional Secretary of the NPP, Elvis Figo Awonekai, and Presiding Member for Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly, Nyaaba Rawfield Abileo.
Appearing on ‘Day Break Upper East’ on A1 RADIO, the NPP Communications Director stated that it is a prerogative of the president to appoint and fire but members of the NPP and residents of the municipality will only grumble in protest if Mr. Amiyuure is maintained as MCE for Bolgatanga.
“If the president thinks that Amiyuure is to continue, well, we can only grumble but what can we do, that is the decision of the president.”
Buttressing his opinion on why he thinks the president should not maintain the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive in his second term, Sanusi Issah stated that Bolgatanga which is the Upper East regional capital has not seen the needed development under the leadership of Amiyuure.
The NPP regional Communications Director has therefore thrown a challenge at the next MCE for Bolgatanga to be dynamic and visionary and “work extra to make Bolga a better place”
