Following recent outburst from Minister of Youth and Sports, Mahama Ayariga over questions by journalists on expenditure made on the African Cup of Nations, a National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) group in the Upper East Region known as Friends of Mahama Ayariga has come out to condemn the media for asking the minister ‘useless questions’.

The Youth and Sports minister after the Black Stars returned from Equatorial Guinea answered questions on Parliament on how much was incurred by the state on preparation to participation and also how much fans were airlifted to Equatorial Guinea to support the Stars.

Not satisfied with the responses of Mr. Ayariga, some journalist who decided to probe further demanded the breakdown of some figures quoted earlier by the minister in Parliament were not spared. Section of the Ghanaian media especially morning show hosts were also not left out with insults raining on them by the minister for asking questions which he said were useless.

This has angered section of the public that some called on President John Mahama to take off the Bawku Central Member of Parliament ministerial position.

Philip Yin, Chairman of Friends of Mahama Ayariga who read the statement on behalf of the group commended Mr. Ayariga for leading the Black Stars to a second position in the African Cup of Nations. Friends of Mahama Ayariga have therefore called on the general public to join the Sports Minister to correct a long standing rot in some section of the media. The group however refuted claims Mahama Ayariga is behind their activities.
