The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has stated that the late Upper East Regional Youth Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Latif Solomon Yenah was a staunch member of the party that even at a point of death, he gave his all out to ensure that the party won the 2020 December general elections.
Mr. Latif died on the night of 14th May 2021 at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, months after he was flown to India for medical treatment.
Dr. Bawumia stated that the massive attendance of party members and government officials at the funeral grounds of Mr. Latif confirms the love he had for the party when he was alive.
“They usually say, after the death of a person that you realized how important or how high in regard the person was. From the attendance that we have seen here at this funeral today, it can be no doubt that our brother Latif was loved very much both inside and outside of the New Patriotic Party. He has spent the best part of his life working for the New Patriotic Party. Latif loved the NPP but you can also see, the NPP loved Latif.”
The Vice President said this when he led a government delegation to attend the 40 days Adua for the late Upper East Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP, held at his hometown in Bongo district of the Upper East Region.
According to Dr. Bawumia, the NPP can never forget the contribution made by the late Latif for the party and the country during his life on earth.
“Even when he was sick, he was so concerned about the 2020 elections. That was his major concern. Thank God he lived to see the victory of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP in the 2020 general elections”, the Vice President indicated.
The late Latif was appointed by the National Youth Wing of the NPP as the “Sector Commander” for the five Northern Regional Youth Organizers. Late Latif who was appointed Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Officer at the School Feeding Program between 2004 to 2008, until his demise was appointed as a member of the Upper East Regional Sports Council.
He left behind a wife, Sakinatu Latif, and four children. The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the vice president, ministers, CEOs, MPs, former MPs, and party executives of the NPP contributed an amount of Ghc 45, 000 of which Ghc 40,000 will be used to set up a fund to take care of the surviving wife and children while the remaining Ghc5, 000 for the family of the late Latif Solomon Yenah.
