Hajia Halima Sadia Mohammad has donated books to the Paga Youth Movement (PAYOM) to support the establishment of a community library in Paga in the Kasena-Nankana West District of the Upper East Region.
The books were received on behalf of PAYOM last Saturday by the movement’s Public Relations Officer, Desmond Abire, the Treasurer, and another representative.
PAYOM said the donation would support its efforts to establish a community library that will provide students, young people and other residents with access to educational and reading materials.
In a statement, the movement expressed appreciation to Hajia Halima Sadia Mohammad for the donation and to Suleman Salifu Zebrim, who facilitated the contribution.
Mr. Zebrim, an educationist and former Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Education Service in the Bongo District, said the donation was part of his efforts to promote quality education in Paga and the wider Kasena-Nankana West District.
He said inadequate learning materials continued to affect teaching and learning, particularly in deprived communities.
Mr. Zebrim described the donation as an investment in literacy and the future of children in the community.
“Hajia Halima Sadia Muhammad’s intervention is not just a donation of books; it is an investment in the future of our children, an investment in literacy, and an investment in national development.”
He expressed confidence that the books would help improve the reading culture of children, enhance academic performance, and motivate both teachers and pupils.
PAYOM has appealed to individuals, businesses, institutions, organisations and friends of Paga to support the community library initiative with additional books, furniture, computers, financial assistance and other relevant resources.
The movement said it remained committed to working with stakeholders to ensure that the library becomes a sustainable resource for learning, reading, research and personal development.
PAYOM also urged other philanthropists and organisations to emulate Hajia Halima Sadia Mohammad’s contribution by supporting educational initiatives in the community.
