Veep donates to Catholic Church

Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has donated an amount of Gh 50, 000.00 to the leadership of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish in Bolgatanga to help in the completion of their new cathedral building project.

Vice President made the donation on Sunday, at Bolgatanga at the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish when he joined the congregation for their Sunday service.

Dr Bawumia said Ghana has being mentioned as the most peaceful nation in Africa and and 38 in the world which should be catalyst for sustainable development.

Vice President Bawumia said, the country was at peace because there is unity in government, unity among the different ethnic groups, religious beliefs and different parts of the country.

Dr Bawumia further said, the common enemy of the country is not religion, tribe or beliefs but poverty and economic hardship that the citizens are battling with.

He said, “I am a Muslim and I am here in the Catholic Church and I feel very comfortable, we are all united, we all worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and we believe in Jesus Christ as the Messiah who was born of the virgin Mary, who is very sacred to us and there is a whole chapter in the Qu’ran named after the Virgin Mary.”

The vice president called on Ghanaians to love one another regardless of their religious, ethnic, political background.

The leadership of the Sacred Heart Cathedral Parish thanked the vice president for making time out of his busy schedule to visit and pray with them, they also thanked him for his donation.
