Narrative Changers is a youth-led advocacy group that fights for the common interest of youth in the Upper East Region.

The group says since the outbreak of the virus, school children especially teenage girls were the most affected ones due to their inability to afford sanitary pads.

The situation it says contributed to many adolescent girls absenting themselves from the classrooms hence needed the support of its outfit.

The leading member of the group, George Solomon made this known on A1 Radio’s Mini forum under the theme “Covid-19 Response in Africa: Together for Reliable Information” with support from the Media Foundation for West Africa on Friday

According to him, they needed something that will motivate the girl child to look beyond the virus and continue to be in school.

“…we get to our partners to help us with something that will motivate the girls to be in school. So, we realized that sanitary pad was a challenge to many school girls at the various rural areas. So, we shifted our attention to help in that regard and the feedbacks we had were heart-touching because some of the girls told us how that actually brought joy to their lives”, he added.

Mr Solomon added that the support was extended to schools in all the 15 constituencies in the region and will continue to do so as and when the outfit mobilises resources.

The Mini forum was organized by A1 Radio and Media Foundation for West Africa brought stakeholders in health to assess the impact of Covid-19 in the Upper East Region to deliberate on ways to reduce the rate of increasing Covid-19 infections which has been associated with non-adherence of Covid-19 protocols as well as to deal with fake news.
