The People’s National Convention (PNC) in the Upper East Region has expressed its support for the decision by the party to suspend its General Secretary, Janet Asana Nabla.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the PNC on August 28, 2021, announced the suspension of Ms. Nabla on the basis of gross insubordination, misconduct and incompetence on her part.

Following this, the embattled General Secretary, together with some other top executives of the party have been fighting what they described as a violation of her legitimate right as a national executive; threatening to go to the law courts over her ejection from office.

Ms. Nabla suspects that the 2020 flagbearer of the party, David Apasera, and the party’s National Chairman, Moses Dani Baah, orchestrated her predicament.

But her woes deepen as some regional, constituency and grassroots members of the party in the Upper East Region have joined other regions in support of their National Executive Committee’s decision to suspend Ms. Nabla.

At a press conference organized at the PNC regional office in Bolgatanga, the Bolgatanga Constituency Secretary of the party, Peter Akanlibe Gbanwaa, said all executives of the party, from national to the constituency levels support her suspension, except “any executive that attended a so called meeting in Kumasi that was organized by the suspended National General Secretary on 7th September 2021.”

“So we in the Upper East Region strongly condemn that meeting simply because it was unconstitutional, lack of merit in the decision and does not warrant the capacity to dismiss topmost executives like the leader and the national chairman of our party.”

They are therefore urging the suspended General Secretary to proceed to the law courts to seek redress if she wishes to do so.

They also imposed a vote of no confidence on the Upper East Regional Chairman who was reportedly seen in the “unconstitutional” meeting organized by the disgruntled General Secretary.

According to the presser read by Mr. Akanlibe, the Upper East Regional branch of the PNC has petitioned the party’s 2020 flagbearer and its national executives to convene a meeting and take a bold step to suspend all regional executives who attended the 7th September, 2021, meeting organized in Kumasi by the suspended General Secretary.
