The Upper East Regional President of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA), Amoak Afoko, has appealed to relevant authorities to consider establishing a law school in the Upper East Region.

He made the special appeal in his welcome address at the ongoing Ghana Bar Association’s Annual General Conference at Bolgatanga, the Upper East Regional Capital.

Touching on the key educational institutions in the region, Mr. Afoko remarked that “Clearly missing in all these educational institutes is an institution that trains lawyers and we will humbly appeal to authorities that be; to consider seriously the establishment of the Ghana law school {in the region}.”

When established, the facility will help lessen the plight of the increasing number of people from the northern part of the country who have to travel long distances to the south to access law education.

The Theme for this year’s conference is “Ensuring an increase in revenue mobilization for the purpose of National development through taxation; the role of the lawyer.”
