One of the aspirants for the position of the Bolgatanga Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the Deputy Regional Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper East Region, Elvis Figo Atia Awonekai, has issued a statement on the nomination of Rex Asanga as MCE for the area.

STATEMENT BY ELVIS FIGO ATIA AWONEKAI (MCE ASPIRANT FOR BOLGA MUNICIPAL) ON THE NOMINATION OF HON. REX ASANGA AS BOLGATANGA MUNICIPAL CHIEF EXECUTIVE
The President had at his disposal several reports about each candidate for the office of MCE, he could not have been wrong in the appointment of our fellow Patriot who has worked so hard and increased the votes as Parliamentary Candidate for the party in 2016 and 2020. I have supported the Parliamentary candidature of Hon. Rex Asanga from 2015 to 2020, we endured rejections and very difficult times together. I am therefore so happy that he has been recognized for his accomplishment with this nomination. It is well-deserved, congratulations on your nomination, chief.
I also want to thank all those who supported and encourage me, special thanks to our Constituency Executives, Council of Elders and Patriots, Electoral Area Coordinators, Polling Station Executives, and Members of the party for their patience and prayers. I also urge you all to give the President’s nominee the needed support to continue the transformation of Bolgatanga Municipality.
I take solace in the Lord for how far he brought me in the race. To be among the Fourteen(14) later Ten(10) people that applied for the Bolgatanga MCE position was an amusement. To be selected among the four (4) people and vetted by the MMDCE National Selection Committee and finally recommended along with Hon. Rex Asanga for the President to choose was an adventure worth taken without regrets.
I will continue to work closely and give out my best to the party, government, and the good people of Bolgatanga and the Upper East region.
