A communication team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper East Region, Augustine Mmi-Dui Guure, has called on President Nana Akufo-Addo to rescind his decision to purchase a new presidential jet for his foreign trips and rather channel the resources to creating jobs for the youth in the country.

The government, through the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, Monday, announced that it had started the process of procuring a bigger presidential jet.

But commenting on the issue on Daybreak Upper East show on A1 Radio, Mr. Guure questioned whether buying a presidential jet will bring jobs to the teaming unemployed youth in the country; who he said was becoming a national security threat.

How many jobs is the new presidential jet going to bring to the unemployed graduates of this country? We are talking about the insecurity of the president but do we also care about our personal security? Because the more people who are willing and capable to work do not get the opportunity to work become idle. And an idle man is the workshop of the devil. Meaning joblessness increases the insecurity in this country. Check the records; wherever there are economic  crises, that is where you’ll find most cases of insecurity.”
