The Upper East Regional Chairman of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Anthony Namoo, has denied allegations suggesting that he influenced the rejection of the President’s nominee, Agnes Anamoo, as District Chief Executive (DCE) for Nabdam.

Speaking on Daybreak Upper East show on A1 Radio, Lawyer Namoo said he was shocked and disappointed at the outcome of the confirmation process of the DCE nominee.

He explained that prior to the election, a lot of engagements went on to ensure the confirmation of all Municipal and District Chief Executive (MDCE) nominees in the region including that of Nabdam.

At the party level, he said they had done all that was necessary for the confirmation of Madam Anamoo, but it baffled him why Assembly Members still did not confirm her.

“I, as a person spoke to all the people who were vying for the for it that, yes the President has spoken so we all have to go by it; besides that I also had to call the constituency chairman to convene a meeting and all our Assembly members were present and we spoke to them, the need for all of them to help so that we can get one touch confirmation for Her. Besides that meeting I also had to call most of them privately and told them that they should try and to the needful so that we will get the one touch confirmation.” He stated.

Lawyer Namoo continued that “I am a clean-hearted person and my principle is that, once I come out and say this; that is what I go by. I don’t believe in meeting and say A, and then you go behind the scene and say B, that is not my nature. I would also look at it this way; I will look at it at the other side that because I’m from that constituency, so people also met to make sure that the Nabdam DCE wouldn’t go through so that, my position as the Regional Chairman will be questioned.”
