Members of the Wa West District Assembly have rejected the President’s nominee, Bukari Ali, as DCE for the area.

Out of 41 votes cast on Wednesday, October 6, 2021, Mr. Ali secured 15 YES votes representing 36.58 percent while 26 Assembly Members voted NO representing 63.41 percent.

The results of the election therefore mean that the nominee who doubles as the Upper West Regional Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) now faces uncertainty as he will have to be renominated by the President or he will be replaced by a new nominee.

Mr. Ali is the third nominee to be rejected in the Upper West Region with the first and second being Martin Bomba-Ire for the Lawra Municipality and Christine Bombanye Amadu for the Jirapa Municipality.
