Binduri DCE finally confirmed

The President’s nominee for the position of District Chief Executive of Binduri, Ayinga Abagre has finally been confirmed after he managed to pull 13 YES votes out of a total of 17 valid votes cast by assembly members of the assembly.

In effect Mr. Ayinga’s 13 YES valid votes cast represents 76 percent, making him the 14th DCE to be confirmed and also the 3rd to be confirmed after a second-round poll after he failed to be confirmed in the first round.

Out of the 17 valid votes, 3 assembly members voted NO against the nominee, and 1 vote was rejected.

Ahead of the voting exercising in the first round of Thursday, October 7th, the Member of Parliament for Binduri who doubles the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, Abdulai Abanga had called on the assembly members to bury their differences and confirm the nominee. But the assembly members did not heed the call and voted to reject Mr. Abanga.

10 assembly members in the first round voted YES in favor of the nominee while 7 assembly members voted NO against him.

The 58.82 percent obtained at the time gave him the chance to go for a second round because it was above the 50 percent benchmark, which in effect guarantees the Presiding Member to reconvene a meeting for his confirmation.

Speaking after his confirmation today 15th October, the newly sworn-in DCE expressed his joy over the overwhelming support by the assembly members by confirming him to manage the affairs of the assembly for the second time.

He, therefore, used the occasion to call for unity among the assembly members and the people of Binduri to enable him to achieve the various developmental projects for the district.
