The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) is calling on the general public to vote for the Integrity Personality of the Year 2021 either through the Ghana Integrity Awards (GIAWARDS) website or via USSD short code. The voting procedure is as follows:
- visit www.ghanatintegrityawards.org, click on “Vote Now”, select your preferred nominee and submit OR
- To vote via USSD short code, Dial *800*21# and follow the prompt
The public votes will constitute 60% of the total score. The GIAWARDS Evaluation Committee made up of eminent anti-corruption and accountability experts from civil society, academia, judiciary, public sector, and private sector will also assess and score the nominees’ anti-corruption initiatives/actions based on the published criteria and their score will constitute the remaining 40%.
The second edition of the GIAWARDS was launched in July 2021 with the aim of honoring institutions and individuals whose efforts are contributing positively and sustainably to the promotion of integrity and the fight against corruption in Ghana.
GII received forty (40) nominations from the general public for the Integrity Personality of the Year category at the close of nominations. After elaborate evaluation processes, the following (5) nominees have been shortlisted for public voting and final evaluation by the GIAWARDS Evaluation Committee:
- Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa – Member of Parliament, North Tongu
- Mr. Samson Lardy Anyenini – Lawyer & Media Practitioner, A-Partners @ Law | Multimedia Group
- Mr. Manasseh Azure Awuni – Investigative Journalist, The Fourth Estate
- Hon. Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah – Member of Parliament, Ho West
- Mr. Confidence Fiagadzi – Detective Lance Corporal (CID), Ghana Police Service
The other award categories for institutions are Policy & Administrative Reforms, Transparency & Social Accountability, Efficient Public Service Delivery, Effective Internal Controls Enforcement, and Business Integrity Category.
Institutions that have been short-listed are being evaluated and will be scored 100% by the Evaluation Committee.
The Integrity Personality of the Year and the Institutional Categories Winners will be awarded in a ceremony on 9 December 2021 to commemorate the UN International Anti-Corruption Day.
The general public is hereby, kindly requested to contribute to the promotion of integrity and the fight against corruption in Ghana by voting for the Integrity Personality of the Year. Kindly note that the voting process is ABSOLUTELY FREE.
