The Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCO) has blamed the power outage that encapsulated a greater part of the country on generating units at Aboadze and Bui. This was contained in a statement released by the Corporate Communications Directorate of GRIDCO and copied to a1radioonline.com.
“Tuesday, November 9, 2021-At 19:50GMT on Monday, November 8, 2021, the power system experienced a significant disturbance. All generating units at Aboadze Enclave and Bui tripped, resulting in a power outage in sections of Accra, the Western, Middle, and Northern parts of the country. At 04:38GMT on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, generating units at Aboadze and Bui were restored, supplying electricity to all major Bulk Supply Points (BSPS). At 04:50GMT on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, in the process of restoring the remaining BSPS, a second disturbance occurred, resulting in the loss of generating units at Aboadze Enclave and Bui,” the company stated.
The statement continued to say the situation led to “another interruption of electricity supply to several areas of Accra, the Western, Middle, and Northern parts of the country”.
Meanwhile, power has been restored to all parts of the country. “GRIDCo, in collaboration with its key stakeholders in the power supply chain, has restored power to all BSPs. GRIDCO assures its valued stakeholders that it will continue to provide a stable power system for dependable and efficient power supply for national and economic growth.
