The former Member of Parliament for Tamale Central, Inusah Abdulai Fuseini has said while government may continue to give out the indication that all is well with the economy, the reality is far from what government communicates. He said the 2022 Budget Statement presents a fine opportunity for government to address all the concerns of Ghanaians particularly in the area of agriculture.
Speaking to Samuel Mbura on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East Show ahead of the 2022 Budget Statement and Financial Policy to be read tomorrow, November 17, 2021, the former lawmaker impressed on government to pay special attention to the agriculture sector. Mr. Fuseini while government has said it has done a lot in the area of agriculture, more needs to be done.
“They [government] will say it will continue with the Planting for Food and Jobs, PFJ, and they will also assure us that there is fertilizer for the next farming season but the dire economic straits that we are into cannot give us any assure”.
“We just hope that government will be able to come up with innovative ways of funding the PFJ and also making fertilizer available and other farm implements available to farmers,” he explained.
