The Upper East Regional Director of Education Mr. Edward Azure has encouraged Junior High School students in the region, who have started their Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) examination to write with the mindset of being the best in the country.

While touring some of the examination centres in the region, Mr. Azure stated that over the years, students’ performance in the region has not been encouraging.

According to him, the Upper East Region has been competing for the last position at the regional ranking rather than the first. It is for this reason that, Mr. Azure has encouraged the Candidates to put in all their best in this year’s BECE examination and change the narrative.

“The [BECE] results of the region has not been encouraging for the past few years, to be frank, we are always competing with the last region, if we are not the last we are always last but one and that is not good”.

“This year-round I expect that you are not going to compete with the last but you are going to compete with the best, so if you go in take your time read your questions very well, and obey all the exams instructions. I know you people have prepared very well and you are going to change the narrative once and for all, we want to encourage you and let you know that, we are with you in prayers we are behind you to write well and come out best,” he said.

Mr. Azure also, admonished the Candidates to strictly observe the Covid-19 safety protocol throughout the examination period, because the pandemic is not over yet.
