A delivery room at Nakore in the Wa Municipality and a Magistrate Court in the Nadowli-Kaleo District have been abandoned despite being completed. The two projects worth more than 3 hundred thousand Ghana-Cedis were completed in 2019 and 2020.

This was contained in the  Auditor–General’s Report on the Management and Utilisation of the District Assemblies Common Fund (Dacf) and Other Statutory Funds for the Year Ended 31 December 2020.

“In contravention of Section 52 of the PFMA, 2016 (Act 921), we noted that the management of two Assemblies completed three DACF-RFG projects between 2019 and 2020 and paid a total amount of GHC 311,499.51 to the Contractors. However, none of the projects was in use as at 31 December 2020,” the report stated.

According to the report, the Wa Municipal Assembly spent a total amount of 59,478.16 GHC on the delivery room at Nakore while another 252,021.35 GHC was spent to Construct a Magistrate Court and supply furniture the same.

“Consequently, the projects might deteriorate, and the public funds invested wasted. 738 We recommended to the Chief Executives and Coordinating Directors to address the challenges preventing the use of the facilities and make them operational,” the Report stated.

Meanwhile, Contrary to Section 52 of the Public Financial Management Act (PFMA) 2016, (Act 921), management of three Assemblies in the Upper West Region purchased various items from the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF) and the Members of Parliament’s Common Fund (MPCF) valued at GHC 287,102 but failed to provide store receipt vouchers, records of usage as well as distribution list of beneficiaries.
