It has been discovered that more than 18 thousand Ghana-Cedis meant for the Tempane District Assembly from business registration fees and proceeds from the sale of tender documents has failed to reach the Assembly. The Works Engineer and Finance Officer of Tempane District Assembly failed to forward the said amount to the Assembly.

This was contained in the Report of The Auditor-General on the Accounts of District Assemblies for the Financial Year Ended 31 December 2020. “By Regulation 46 of the PFMR, 2019 (LI. 2378), a Principal Spending Officer shall ensure that non-tax revenue is efficiently collected and lodged in gross within 24 hours in the designated Consolidated Fund Transit bank accounts except in the case of internally generated funds retained under an enactment. However, the Works Engineer and Finance Officer of Tempane District Assembly did not account for GHS18,600.00 received from the sale of tender documents and Business registration fees resulting in loss of revenue to the Assembly,” the report stated.

The Auditor-General recommended that “the tender document fees of GHC14,400.00 and business registration fees of GHC4,200.00 should be recovered from the District Works Engineer and Finance Officer, respectively”.
