Zuarungu shooting: Bodies of officers to be airlifted to Accra

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has initiated processes to have the bodies of Constable Suley Adam and Constable Emmanuel Akowuah flown to Accra, the National Capital. The two Police officers were shot by armed robbers in Zuarungu in the Upper East Region while on their routine Motorbike Patrol duties with a Service Motorbike.

This came to light when the Upper East Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, ASP David Fianko spoke on A1 Radio’s Day Break Upper East.

The IGP, currently still in the region, stormed the Upper East Region yesterday, December 16, 2021, with a team from the National Police Administration to commiserate with the colleagues of the deceased officers and interact with the Chief and people of Zuarungu and give the assurance that the armed robbers, who the police say, are of Fulani extract, will be brought to justice.

The IGP, Dr. Dampare took the opportunity to visit the Police Commands in Navrongo and Bawku to interact with personnel in the area.

Meanhwile, the Upper East Regional Police Command has said that Service Rifle with number 79209 with 20 rounds of ammunitions booked by Constable Suley Adam, one of the police officers shot by robbers at Zuarungu, cannot be traced.

The Upper East Regional Police Public Affairs Officer, ASP David Fianko has said the Inspector General of Police, George Dampare Akufo has placed GHc50,000.00 bounty on criminals who shot and killed the two police officers at Zuarungu community in the Bolgatanga East District.
