The Upper East Regional branch of Zoomlion Ghana has said it has transmuted the waste management system in the region despite the unwillingness of residents to change their attitude.
Waste management, it said, is a collective effort, unfortunately, the residents had failed to keep up their part of the bargain.
“We are able to keep clean the region and I must say our presence in the region has actually eradicated the poor waste management system it used to suffer with”, the Upper East Regional Manager, John Sackey said.
The Regional Manager Mr. Sackey added that despite the lackadaisical attitude amongst residents to embrace positive waste management systems in their homes and workplaces, his outfit has not relented on its duty.
“People still have the notion that littering the environment for workers of Zoomlion to come and clear is the order of the day. But that is wrong we don’t have to think that way, collectiveness we have to be and be able to keep clean our environment. If we can keep our surroundings clean, we can be devoid of diseases and its related effects.”
He stressed that their efforts over the years have made the region achieve some heights in terms of waste management stressing that his outfit will do more until the region becomes waste-free.
Mr Sackey said the integrated recycling and compost plant at the Sherigu community which is expected to begin working in 2022 will help rid the region of filth
